    This covers financial losses arising from variety of events that can negatively impact business’s operations.

1. FIRE AND PERILS

This policy provides indemnity against material loss to property caused by fire. This fire should be as a result of actual ignition, accidental in origin, Lightning and Explosion Which Includes explosions of boilers and gas used for domestic purposes.

2. BURGLARY INSURANCE

This policy provides Indemnity to the insured against:

  • Loss or damage to the property contained within the main building or other buildings separately specified in the schedule all situate within the insured’s premises arising out of theft on an attempt thereat involving entry or exit by forcible and violent means.

  • Damage arising from Theft following upon an actual Forcible and violent entry to or exit from or any attempt thereat to such building(s) for which the insured is responsible.

It is normally extended to include loss or damage of property following a hold-up.

3. ALL RISKS

This covers accidental loss, damage or destruction from any loss, including fire, which is not specifically excluded. The risk should always be carefully assessed before cover is issued.

4. DOMESTIC PACKAGE

This helps you protect your home and family with coverage that meets your needs.

This is an insurance package that provides homeowners and tenants combined benefits from several policies in respect to buildings they occupy as private dwellings.

The coverage is dividend as per the following section:

SECTION A: BUILDING

This section covers the dwelling house (if owned by the policyholder) against loss and damage by the undernoted perils:

  1. Fire, lighting, thunderbolts, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions

  2. Storm or tempest, floods, accidental impact with the building

  3. Bursting or overflowing of water tanks, apparatus or pipes

  4. Loss or damage following escape of water from storage or heating installations.

  5. Damage arising from theft or attempted theft

  6. Aircraft or other aerial device or any article dropped there from above the building

  7. Explosions

  8. Riots and strikes

  9. Falling trees

The section can be extended to provide the following covers:

  1. Loss of rental income to help the policyholder hire alternative accommodation up to 10% of the value of the building.

  2. Fire brigade charges up to an agreed amount.

  3. Cost of debris removal up to an agreed amount.

SECTION B: CONTENTS

Content section covers household goods/contents against loss or damage the same perils covered under Section One.

Extensions available under this section include the following:

  1. Damage to the building or landlord‘s fixtures and fittings for which the insured is legally responsible as a tenant.

  2. Loss or damage of contents of the freezer up to a specified amount following continuous power failure in excess of twelve hours.

  3. Cost of replacement of keys up to a specified amount.

  4. Loss of personal money following fire or burglary up to a specified amount.

  5. Guests’ effects up to a specified amount in any one event.

SECTION C: ALL RISKS


As the name suggests, All Risks Insurance covers loss or damage to specific valuables from any cause that is not specifically excluded in the policy.
Common items insured under this section include mobile personal items such as jewellery, spectacles, cell phones, laptops and photographic equipment. Household electronic equipment at the risk of accidental damage may also be insured under this section.


SECTION D: WIBA FOR DOMESTIC EMPLOYEES


This section of the policy covers the legal liability under the Work Injury Benefit Act (WIBA) against accidental death or bodily injury in the course of duty as well as medical and funeral expenses in respect to domestic workers such as watchmen, gardeners, house helps, etc.


SECTION E: OWNER'S LIABILITY


This section covers any legal liability that may arise from accidental bodily injury or damage to property in connection with the ownership of the residence by the insured or his household. Injury or damage to property could arise as a result of falling on slippery surfaces, attach by canines, burns from domestic gas explosions, etc.


SECTION F: OCCUPIER'S LIABILITY


This section covers any legal liability that may arise from accidental bodily injury or damage to property in connection with the occupation of the residence by the insured or his household. Such injuries or damage to property could arise as a result of falling on slippery surfaces, attach by canines, burns from domestic gas explosions and any other causes.

5. FIDELITY GUARANTEE​

This policy covers the loss of money belonging to the insured or for which she/he is legally responsible while on the premises specified (out of safe during business hours and in specified locked safe(s) or strong room(s) outside business hours and while in transit to and from the bank.

The policy also covers loss of or damage to specified safes and/or strong rooms as a result of money being stolen there from or any attempt thereat.
The policy does not cover:

  1.  Fraud or dishonesty of employees

  2.  Error or omission

  3. Depreciation in value

  4. Any consequential loss

  5. Unexplained losses

  6. Deductible/Excess

  7. Cost of replacement of safe keys

  8. Transit by post

  9. Riot & Strike

6. GOODS IN TRANSIT

Covers property against loss or damage while in transit from one destination to another or being stored during a journey both domestically and abroad. The scope of cover includes;

  1.  Theft while in transit

  2.   Loss while in transit

  3.   Damage caused by accidents during transit

  4.   Damage caused during transit

7. PERSONAL ACCIDENT

​This policy covers accidental death or disablement to the insured. Compensation will be payable to the insured, trustee or legal representative in accordance with the scale of benefits agreed and specified in the policy schedule.

The age requirements for this policy are that the holder should be above 15 years and below 65 years. Policy can be given to individuals or groups of individuals.

  1. Student Personal Accident
    Students’ personal accident cover to individual students on industrial attachment or otherwise, schools and organized groups on very reasonable premium terms.

  2.  Group Personal Accident
    Special Group personal insurance is essentially a personal accident cover, which includes work related occupational illness and is thus Work Injury Benefits Act 2007 (WIBA) compliant.
    It operates exactly like personal accident cover only that it deals with a group.
    It is usually arranged by employer for the employees and is usually based on salary and is issued subject to declaration of actual salaries.

8. WIBA INSURANCE

Provides indemnity to an employer against legal liability under the workmen injury Act (2007) in respect of assessments and awards for bodily injury to a workman due to accident or occupational diseases arising out of and in the course of the employment by the employer in respect of the employer’s business.

WIBA requires that all employees should be over 18 years of age.

The benefits in WIBA include:

  1. Death – 96 months earnings

  2. Permanent Total Disability – 96 months earnings

  3. Temporary Total Disability – Minimum 3 days of work earnings, maximum of 52 weeks earnings

  4. Medical – Kshs 100,000/=

  5. Funeral Expenses – Kshs 30,000/=

9. PUBLIC LIABILITY

Provides indemnity against legal liability to third parties in respect of accidental death, bodily injury and or illness and/or loss or damage to property incurred by the Insured in the course of the Insured’s business and in the Insured’s premises.

10. MONEY

​This policy covers the loss of money belonging to the insured or for which he/she is legally responsible while on the premises specified out of safe during business hours and in specified locked safe(s) or strong room(s) outside business hours and while in transit to and from the bank.

The policy also covers loss of or damage to specified safes and/or strong rooms as a result of money being stolen there from or any attempt thereat.
The policy does not cover:

11. PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY

It Indemnifies a professional in respect of his/her legal liability towards third parties for injury, loss or damage arising from his/her own professional negligence or that of his/her employees.

The policy offers indemnity on a strict legal liability basis; moral liability is not insured.  Moreover, claims against firms or persons for professional negligence do not necessarily arise from accidental injury or loss of or damage to property within the meaning of an ordinary public liability policy.  They are usually the result of other negligent acts or the negligent giving of advice.

12. ERECTION ALL RISKS

Wherever there is the erection or installation of machinery or equipment, there is a risk of loss or damage. Erection all risks insurance (EAR) covers all types of risks involved in the erection of machinery, plant & steel structures of any kind.

Covers the risk of loss arising out of the erection and installation of machinery, plant and steel structures including physical damage to

  1.  The contract works

  2. Equipment and machinery

  3. Liability for third party bodily injury or property damage Arising out of:

    1. Fire, lightning, chemical explosion

    2. Physical explosion

    3. Third party Liabilities

    4. Damage to surrounding property

    5. Malicious acts

    6. Theft/Burglary

    7. Earthquake, flood, inundation

12. MACHINERY BREAKDOWN

​It is an accidental insurance for machinery, which provides cover against unforeseen and sudden physical loss or damage to the insured machinery resulting from:

  1. Physical explosion

  2. Malicious acts

  3. Negligence, human error, lack of skill

  4. Faulty design

  5. Defective material, bad workmanship

Cover commencement:

  1. Cover applies after successful completion of the initial performance test and is available

  2. While the machine is working or is at rest

  3. During dismantling

  4. During shifting on the participants’ premises for the purpose of cleaning or overhauling operations
